Mercs’
Frothing rabidly by the prospect of 15mm post-apocalyptic battles, I got to work with some modelling and painting. I rummaged around and found some un-used Flames of War British infantry and a pile of bits to create a small mercenary force of 16 infantry (including a couple of “EMP support guns”). A quick trip to the local hobby shop got me a pair of vehicles too.
I didn’t do anything special with the basic infantry, and now kind of wish I didn’t do the standard brown / khaki, but I’m not changing it!

Some of my Mercs, with unpainted bases...
The EMP Guns I have decided will be excellent at disabling vehicles and robots (really good when I get my “terminator robots”) but terrible at harming humans. I made them from Flames of War figures and Warhammer 40,000 Tau guns.

My EMP support teams - with huge guns!
The vehicles have heaps of bits stuck all over them. As I was looking at the van it kind of reminded me of the A-Team van, so it got an appropriate paint job and the combi-van with flame thrower got a matching look. I really like my combi-van with the massive fuel tank!

The Flame Combi
Now I am off to make some terrain while I wait for my new models to arrive.

I am an old GW guy from way back, but 15mm are so quick to paint and very cheap compared to 28mm sci-fi and fantasy stuff. We are using a set of rules written by myself (based on the Conquest of the Lost World rules posted about earlier). These are almost done and do actually create a quick, enjoyable game. I will be posting more details in the not too distant future, so stay tuned!

GW just takes the biscuit when it come to price! The quality of the minis these days is very good though. I buy some of thier LOTR stuff and WHF stuff for my pathfinder game. I stopped playing thier rulsets after they kept out dating all my (Very expensive) books. I find myself drawn to ww2 at the moment.
